August 31 is the day when we remember in sadness the tragic disappearance of Princess Diana, called \u201cThe Princess of Hearts\u201d.<\/p>\n

Charismatic, elegant and compassionate, the Princess of Wales won the sympathy of the whole world, while her beauty and popularity attracted the attention of the press, turning her into one of the most photographed women in the world.<\/p>\n

Romfilatelia<\/strong> commemorates on August 31, 2017, the tragic disappearance of Princess Diana through a postage stamp issue, which is an overprint of the Diana – Princess of Wales<\/em><\/strong> postage stamp issue of 1999.<\/p>\n

Twenty years after the tragic accident that took place in the Paris tunnel where she lost her life, Lady Diana continues to be loved by Britons around the world. The memorial fountain dedicated to the \u201cPrincess of Hearts\u201d in London is a place of pilgrimage where people bring flowers, souvenirs, to the memory of the most beloved British princess.<\/p>\n

Diana Frances Spencer was born on July 1, 1961, in Sandringham, Norfolk and as a young girl, she was inclined towards music and dance, studied ballet and grew up wanting to become a ballerina. She was also passionate about swimming, diving, hockey, tennis and skiing.<\/p>\n

On July 29, 1981, the Cathedral of St. Paul held the fairytale wedding between Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles, and so Diana Frances Spencer becomes Lady Diana, Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n

Appearing from the early years after marriage as a representative of the Windsor House, she devoted herself to humanitarian action, especially for the benefit of children, especially those less fortunate.<\/p>\n

The work in support of AIDS patients made her extremely popular. Other issues that attracted the princess\u2019s attention were: cancer, the needy, poverty, mental illness and drug abuse.<\/p>\n

Lady Di has been repeatedly photographer by the paparazzi alleviating the sufferings of sick people, talking to former drug addicts, trying to give a helping hand to the elderly and the homeless. She was the first member of the royal family who spoke openly about anything, without fear of the others\u2019 reaction.<\/p>\n

In 1989, Lady Diana inaugurated in London the \u201cLandmark Aids Center\u201d, a center that provides help to HIV-infected patients. She later became the patron of the National AIDS Trust.<\/p>\n

Even though in 1996 her marriage to Prince Charles collapsed, Lady Diana stayed in the public eye, continuing the series of charity works.<\/p>\n

Over the years, she has coordinated several organizations and events, including Swansea\u2019s \u201cMusic and Art Festival\u201d, \u201cThe Royal School for the Blind and the British Deaf Association\u201d, \u201cHelp the Aged\u201d, \u201cMalcolm Sargent\u201d Fund for children with cancer, the \u201cRed Cross Youth Organization\u201d, the \u201cLondon Ballet\u201d and the
\n\u201cRoyal Academy of Music\u201d.<\/p>\n

The tragic accident of August 31, 1997 has saddened and shocked the world. The day of the princess\u2019s disappearance, beyond tears and emotions, has remained one of the most disturbing moments of the 21st<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n

Lady Diana was buried on an island in the middle of a lake located in the middle of her family\u2019s estate, at Althorp.<\/p>\n

At the funeral ceremony, accompanied by grand shows of emotion, Elton John interpreted the song \u201cCandle in the Wind 1997\u201d as a last tribute given to the Princess of Hearts.<\/p>\n
