After graduating from the <em>Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em>, in 1985, in the class of Professor Dem Radulescu, she acted on the stage of the Youth Theatre, in Piatra Neamt.<\/p>\n<p>At the State Jewish Theatre, where she has been manager since 2012, she made remarkable roles in <em>Tonight: Lola Blau<\/em>, <em>Kings\u2019 Game<\/em>, <em>Driving<\/em> <em>Miss Daisy<\/em>, or <em>Park your car in Harvard yard<\/em>. On the stage of the Bucharest National Theatre, she played roles in <em>A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em>, <em>The Visit of the Old Lady<\/em>, <em>The Cherry Orchard<\/em>, <em>Catherine the Great<\/em> or <em>The Bourgeois Gentleman<\/em>, and at The Metropolis Theatre in <em>Jubilee<\/em>, <em>A Stormy Night<\/em> etc. She collaborates with other theatres, from Bucharest and the country \u2013 Bulandra Theatre, Odeon Theatre, Mic Theatre, \u201cRadu Stanca\u201d National Theatre in Sibiu, as well as with other theatre and film personalities over the world.<\/p>\n<p>We can see her in films like <em>The Secret of Bacchus<\/em>, <em>The Oak<\/em>, <em>The Earth\u2019s Most Beloved Son<\/em>, <em>Orient Express<\/em>, <em>The Passion of the Christ<\/em>, <em>The End of Silence<\/em>, <em>The Secret of Polichinelle<\/em>, or <em>Miss Christina<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Her talent and uninterrupted work were rewarded with numerous awards and distinctions, such as: <em>The Best Actress Award<\/em> at the Emma Festival (London) for the role of <em>Maria<\/em> in the film <em>The Passion of the Christ<\/em>, the <em>Silver Bear<\/em> at the Berlin Film Festival and the <em>Felix Prize<\/em> of the <em>European Film Academy<\/em> for the role of <em>Nela<\/em> in the film <em>The Oak<\/em>, the <em>UNITER Best Actress Award<\/em> for <em>Medeea<\/em> in the <em>Ancient Trilogy<\/em>, and <em>Lola Blau<\/em> role from the play <em>Tonight: Lola Blau<\/em>, <em>The Order of Arts and Letters in the rank of Knight \u2013 France<\/em>, or the <em>Royal Order \u201cNihil Sine Deo\u201d.<\/em> The European Parliament in Strasbourg designated her as <em>Actress and Woman of the Year<\/em> in 2003. In 2017, she received the title of <em>Doctor Honoris Causa Artis<\/em>, from the West University of Timisoara.<\/p>\n<p>Born on January 29<sup>th<\/sup>, 1962, <strong><em>Oana Pellea<\/em><\/strong> studied at the<em> Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em>, from which she graduated in 1984, in Sanda Manu\u2019s class. Between 1984 and 1987, she was an actress of the Piatra Neamt Theatre, and from 1987 to 1999 she played at the Bulandra Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Oana Pellea\u2019s career includes over 40 major roles in theatre: Masha <em>(Three Sisters)<\/em>, Lucius <em>(Julius Caesar)<\/em>, Juliet <em>(Mephisto)<\/em>, Catarina <em>(The Taming of the Shrew)<\/em>, Drussila <em>(Caligula)<\/em> etc.<\/p>\n<p>The actress also starred in 20 films, some of them international productions, including <em>Sand Cliffs<\/em>; <em>With Love, Rita<\/em>; <em>Never enough<\/em>, <em>I Really Hate My Job<\/em>, <em>One Step Ahead<\/em>, <em>Biblioteque Pascal<\/em> or <em>Fire &amp; Ice<\/em>: <em>The Dragon Chronicles<\/em>. In 2006, she co-starred Clive Owen and Julianne Moore in <em>Children of Men,<\/em> a film directed by Alfonso Cuaron.<\/p>\n<p>The Romanian Academy awarded her with <em>Aristizza Romanescu Prize<\/em> for the theatrical and cinematographic career.<\/p>\n<p>His Majesty, King Michael I of Romania, conferred Oana Pellea <em>the Cross of the Royal House of Romania Decoration<\/em>, on October 25<sup>th<\/sup>, 2012.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>UNITER awarded her twice with the <em>Best Actress Award<\/em>, and the Romanian Cultural Foundation with the prize for <em>Outstanding International Career<\/em>. She has also received numerous international awards for the leading role in Stere Gulea\u2019s <em>State of Things<\/em>, including <em>Best Actress Awards<\/em> at the Geneva Film Festival, at the San Marino Political Film Festival, and at the \u201cGolden Eagle\u201d International Film Festival from Batumi, Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most appreciated and award-winning actresses in Romania, <strong><em>Luminita Gheorghiu<\/em><\/strong>, was born on September 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 1949 and graduated in 1972 from the<em> Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em>. She made her debut during University years, on the stage of Casandra Studio. Between 1972 and 1975, she played at the \u201cMihai Eminescu\u201d Theatre in Botosani and the Youth Theatre in Piatra Neamt. From 1975 to 2003 she was an actress of the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest.<\/p>\n<p>In the theatre, she made memorable roles in plays like Strindberg\u2019s<em> The Pelican<\/em>, Marin Sorescu\u2019s <em>A cold<\/em>, Chekhov\u2019s <em>Uncle Vanya<\/em> and <em>Three Sisters<\/em>, Shakespeare\u2019s <em>The<\/em> <em>Winter\u2019s Tale<\/em>, or Catherine Aigner\u2019s <em>The old woman who listens Abba. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Equally attracted by theatre and film, the actress made a breakout with the role of <em>Catrina<\/em> from the film <em>Morometii<\/em>. She rose to international fame with her role in <em>The Death of Mr. Lazarescu<\/em>, and with the collaboration with the director Michael Haneke, in <em>Code Unknown<\/em>, as well as in <em>Time of the Wolf<\/em>. Her rich filmography, with over 35 roles, brought her numerous awards: <em>The Excellency Award<\/em> (Iasi International Film Festival, 2009, TIFF Festival, 2013), Bucharest Municipality Award of <em>Best Actress for the 2008-2009 Theatrical Season<\/em>, <em>The Prize of Honour<\/em> for extraordinary merits brought to Romanian Cinematography (GE-FO-RUM &amp; Filmmuseum Munich, 2013), the <em>Best Actress Award<\/em> and the <em>Academy Award<\/em> at the UCIN 2013 Gala for the role from <em>Child\u2019s Pose <\/em>and <em>I\u2019m an old Commie!<\/em> Luminita Gheorghiu also received a nomination at the <em>European Film Awards 2013<\/em>, for her role in <em>Child\u2019s Pose<\/em>, film that was awarded with the <em>Golden Bear<\/em> at the Berlin International Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>George Mihaita<\/em><\/strong>, born on September 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 1948, is an emblematic actor of the Romanian stage that has become famous in theatre and film through talent, facial expressivity, and also specific voice. Since 2002 he is the director of the Comedy Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>He studied The Art of Acting at the <em>Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em> from Bucharest and graduated in 1971. <em>A Lost Letter<\/em>, <em>The Matchmaker<\/em>, <em>The Cherry Orchard<\/em>, <em>The Wisdom-Tooth<\/em>, <em>12 Angry Men<\/em>, <em>A Stormy Night<\/em>, <em>Poker<\/em>, <em>The Italian Straw Hat <\/em>\u2013 are just a few of the theatre plays from the artist\u2019s repertoire. With the stage play <em>The Government Inspector<\/em> by N.V. Gogol, directed by Horatiu Malaele, in which George Mihaita plays the role <em>The Mayor<\/em>, the actor has participated to numerous European festivals.<\/p>\n<p>He made his screen debut with the role of <em>Vuica <\/em>in the movie <em>The Reenactment<\/em>, designated by the Film Critics Association as the best Romanian film of all time, which was a breakout role that significantly contributed to the development of his career.<\/p>\n<p>During his 45 years of work, he has been cast in over 70 films: <em>The Accident<\/em>, <em>The Man of the Day<\/em>, <em>Veronica<\/em>, <em>Somewhere in Palilula<\/em>, <em>The Survivor<\/em>, <em>Silent Wedding<\/em> etc.<\/p>\n<p>The talent and passion for the scene brought him many awards, such as: <em>Best Actor<\/em> <em>2010 <\/em>(the <em>UNITER Gala Award<\/em> for the role of <em>Ametistov<\/em> in the play <em>Zoika\u2019s House<\/em>), <em>Best Actor 2007<\/em> (National Comedy Festival, Galati and JoakimInterFest Festival, Kragujevac, Serbia, for the role <em>The Mayor<\/em> from the play <em>The Government Inspector<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>As a founder and president of the <em>UNESCO Club Adolescentii <\/em>he has been involved in this field and has set up the <em>Jos Palaria<\/em> <em>Theatre Festival<\/em> for High School Students.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, he was decorated with the <em>National Order for Faithful Service in the rank of Knight<\/em>, \u201cfor the devotion and artistic grace put in the service of the Romanian theatre\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Born on August 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 1952, in Targu-Jiu, graduate from the <em>Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em>, in 1975 (in Octavian Cotescu\u2019s class), <strong><em>Horatiu Malaele<\/em><\/strong> is a reputed Romanian actor, director, cartoonist and writer with a special activity in theatre and film, where he played numerous roles.<\/p>\n<p>In theatre he played memorable roles in: <em>Servant of Two Masters<\/em> and <em>The Liar<\/em> by Carlo Goldoni, <em>The T\u00f3t Family<\/em> by Istvan Orkeny, <em>The Karamazovs<\/em> based on the novel of Dostoyevsky, <em>Scapin<\/em> by Moliere, <em>Decomposed Theatre<\/em> by Matei Visniec, <em>The<\/em> <em>Suicide<\/em> by Nicolai Erdman, <em>Uncle Vanya<\/em> by Chekhov, <em>Dinner for Schmucks<\/em> by Veber etc.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, at the National Theatre in Bucharest, he made his directorial debut with <em>The Lesson<\/em> by Eugene Ionesco. Later on, he staged <em>The Flea<\/em> by Georges Feydeau, <em>The Oxen Meadows <\/em>and <em>The Jester<\/em> after Chekhov, <em>The Caf\u00e9<\/em> after Sam Bobrik, <em>The Government Inspector <\/em>by Gogol, <em>Shylock<\/em> by Gareth Armstrong etc.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, Horatiu Malaele has won numerous awards: the Romanian Humorists\u2019 Association <em>Award for Interpretation<\/em> (1993) for <em>The Flea<\/em>, the <em>Prize for Directing<\/em> at the Romanian Comedy Festival (1994) and the <em>Special Prize of the Jury<\/em> at the National Festival of Contemporary Theatre (Brasov, 1996), Award for <em>Best Stage Play <\/em>at the National Comedy Festival for the show <em>Money from Heaven<\/em> (Galati, 2001). At the 8<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the Romanian Comedy Festival \u201cfestCO 2010\u201d, Horatiu Malaele received the <em>Best Actor In a Leading Role\u2019<\/em> <em>Award<\/em> for the role of the <em>Professor <\/em>in the Eugene Ionesco\u2019s <em>Lesson<\/em> and the <em>Best Director Award<\/em> for the same spectacle. The actor\u2019s record includes two UNITER Awards: <em>Best Actor<\/em> in 1992 for the role of <em>Lelio<\/em> in the play <em>The Liar<\/em>, played on the stage of the Odeon Theatre and <em>Best Actor<\/em> in 1998, for the role of <em>K. Mueller<\/em> in <em>The Revolver<\/em>, a theatrical production of Nottara Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>He also played in several movies, such as: <em>Divorce\u2026 Out of Love<\/em>, <em>This Lament<\/em>, <em>The Bastards<\/em>, <em>Amen<\/em>, <em>Morometii<\/em> etc. In 2012, the actor was awarded with the <em>Excellence Award for the Entire Career<\/em> at the \u201cComedy Cluj\u201d International Film Festival. In the same year, the beloved actor received a star on the <em>Celebrity Alley<\/em> in Time Square from Bucharest.<\/p>\n<p>He published the book <em>Horatiu about Malaele <\/em>(2002), which includes texts, photographs, graphics reproductions that reflect the artist\u2019 s life and his creative activities. He is also the author of the volumes <em>A story with Horatiu<\/em> and <em>Wanderings<\/em>. As cartoonist and graphic designer, Horatiu Malaele had dozens of national and international exhibitions (in Munich, Paris, Venice, San Francisco, Montevideo etc.), and published thousands of cartoons and drawings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Marcel Iures<\/em><\/strong>, born on August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 1951, graduated from the <em>Institute of Theatre and Film<\/em> in Bucharest, in 1978, and was distinguished by talent and stage presence.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1978 and 1980 he worked at the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, and after 1980 he performed on the stages of the Bulandra and Odeon Theatres, in Bucharest.<\/p>\n<p>On stage, he distinguishes himself in plays such as <em>Romeo and Juliet<\/em>, <em>As you like it<\/em>, <em>Hamlet<\/em>, <em>Richard III<\/em>, <em>A Stormy Night<\/em>, or in the leading role from <em>Caligula<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>His cinematographic performance is an important one, the actor creating unforgettable roles in the <em>Carpathian Castle<\/em>, <em>To Die Wounded by Love for Life<\/em>, <em>Miss Aurica<\/em>, <em>The Oak<\/em>, <em>Keep an eye on happiness<\/em>, <em>Amen<\/em>, <em>The Phantom Father<\/em>, <em>3 pazeste<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>His talent helped him to conquer Hollywood, co-starring with celebrities of the American cinema: with Tom Cruise in <em>Mission Impossible<\/em>, with Nicole Kidman and George Clooney in <em>The Peacemaker<\/em>, and with Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell in <em>Hart\u2019s War<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, he has been rewarded with many awards: <em>The Best Actor in Leading Role<\/em> <em>Award<\/em> (UNITER Gala Awards in 1999 and 2002), <em>The Excellence Award<\/em> (UNITER Gala Awards in 2004), The Trophy for the <em>Most Important Personality of the Romanian Theatre<\/em> (offered by Tofan Foundation for Theatre and Film in 2001), the <em>Flacara<\/em> Grand Prize (at a Gala organized by the National Theatre Bucharest, in November, 2008).<\/p>\n<p>In 1995, Marcel Iures founded the Cultural and Artistic Foundation <em>ACT Theatre<\/em>, the first independent cultural and artistic institution from Romania, having its own multipurpose hall, designed for theater, music and dance performances, and for film and exhibitions. The hall was opened to public in September, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, at the ceremony of awarding the <em>Romanian Oscar trophies \u2013 for excellence<\/em>, Marcel Iures was among the personalities with remarkable results in various fields of activity who were awarded such a trophy \u2013 a gold-plated metal statuette, a modified version of the famous American
