\"lilieci\"<\/a>Romfilatelia introduces into circulation the postage stamps issue BATS.Bats are insectivore, crepuscular and nocturnal mammals, of the Chiropters order. They have wings that are made of a double skin membrane binding the fingers of the anterior limbs and extending on the parts of the body to the posterior limbs and tale. They guide themselves in the dark based on the ultrasounds they make, their ear being capable of perceiving the echo of the waves reflected by obst.
\nBats feed on insects, fruits, pollen, nectar, fish, frogs, blood. European bats are
\nexclusively insectivores, counting 45 species divided into three families. Romanian bats (30 species) belong to the Rhinolophidae and Vespertilionidae families, which are part of the Micro-chiropters sub-order.
\nFollowing the degradation and the limitation of natural habitats, the excessive use of insecticides, as well as because of the disturbance of hibernation and reproduction places, the European bat populations have grown less.
\nBats use as shelter caves, stone clefts, hollows, rock fissures and abandoned attics.
\nRomania, with its over 13,000 caves, is an important refuge and a population center for the bats of the South-Eastern Europe.
\nThe following bats are illustrated on the postage stamps of this philatelic issue:
\n\u2013 Myotis myotis (Greater Mouse-Eared Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RON 0.30
\n\u2013 Rhinolophus hipposideros (Lesser Horseshoe Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RON 0.50.
\n\u2013 Plecotus auritus (Brown Long-Eared Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RON 1.00.
\n\u2013 Pipistrellus pipistrellus (Scrub Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RON 1.20.
\n\u2013 Nyctalus lasiopterus (Greater Crepuscular Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RO 1.60.
\n\u2013 Barbastella barbastellus (Snub Bat), on the postage stamp with the face value of RON 2.20.<\/p>\n

The philatelic issue was prepared with the assistance of the specialists from the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History of Bucharest.<\/p>\n
